NISF SportScape Report 2025 Highlights Growth andChallenges in NI’s Sports Sector
The NI Sports Forum (NISF) has today published its SportScape Report 2025, providing a comprehensive overview of the current landscape for sports organisations across Northern Ireland.
The report highlights a sector that continues to grow, with increased participation, staffing, and volunteering reported by the majority of organisations. Notably, over three quarters of respondents recorded a rise in membership, alongside positive trends in workforce and volunteer engagement.
However, this progress is set against significant and mounting challenges. Organisations are facing rising operational costs, including increased National Insurance contributions, alongside ongoing pressures related to funding uncertainty, access to facilities, and workforce capacity.
Funding remains the most pressing concern, with many organisations calling for more sustainable, multi-year investment models and simplified funding processes to support long-term planning and development.
The report also identifies strong demand for enhanced support services, including shared administrative functions and grant application support, to help organisations build capacity and operate more effectively.
Overall, the findings reflect a resilient and growing sector that plays a vital role in communities across Northern Ireland, but which requires targeted support and strategic investment to sustain its progress.
The insights from the SportScape Report 2025 will inform NISF’s ongoing advocacy and support for members, ensuring the needs of the sector continue to be represented at all levels.
